Community Impact

PLTI alumni are change agents in their homes, schools, and the community and are more likely than non-alumni to attend public meetings, vote and serve on a committee as an officer.

Alumni Parent Leader Community Work

PLTI Alumni serve with distinction in various roles in our community, in addition, to raising the next generation of community leaders! Our alumni have diverse community interests and impact and serve the region in many ways.
The interest areas fall into several community impact areas, including:

Youth Empowerment and Mentoring

These efforts focus on gender-based mentorship, students with different abilities, college-readiness efforts, support for homeless youth and multi-cultural supports for youth.

Neighborhood Improvement Efforts

These efforts focus on improving the condition of communities and neighborhoods, making them safer for residents and increasing access to amenities and services.

School Improvement Efforts

These efforts focus on improving schools (traditional public, charter and private) in our region and ensuring that all students have access to high quality educational choices. Interests in this area are diverse and include class size, school bus safety, student support, cultural diversity, addressing racism in schools, and teacher appreciation.

Parental Empowerment

These efforts focus on parenting strategies, supporting early literacy, childcare access, digital and social media literacy, and empowerment for dads to parent.

Parent-School Partnerships

These efforts focus on equitable parent voice within schools and inclusivity within parent-teacher organizations.

School Governance Design

These efforts focus on the variety of ways that schools are overseen and how that oversight can support best experience for all students. PLTI parent leaders have worked with governance of traditional public, charter, urban-school partnerships, and regional school models.

Childhood Health and Wellness

These efforts include social-emotional supports for youth, community play that supports exercise, and access to healthy food/groceries.
